New mission for FIRMUS in Antarctica
Last November and December, Jean-Christophe LASSERRE carried out a mission to the Antarctic research station CONCORDIA jointly managed by the French Polar Institute and the Italian NARP. The grey water recycling process, resulting from research work for the European Space Agency (ESA), was evaluated and adapted to the station between 2005 and 2010 as part of a three-party collaboration. It has been operating nominally since 2010 and was revised this season. The entire control-command system has been renewed. This mission had been prepared as early as 2018. Thanks to the teams of the French Polar Institute and the Italian NARP for their involvement as well as to our automation engineer Thierry GOURLIN.
This demonstrates FIRMUS’ long experience and perfect mastery in the grey water recycling sector, which is carried out under extremely rigorous conditions (no technical or health incidents in operation since 2005 and more than 1,300 users).
Jean-Christophe LASSERRE and FIRMUS continue to monitor the operation of the grey water recycling process at Concordia from Clermont l’Hérault.
Our partnership with the French Polar Institute and ESA will be renewed in 2020 and 2021 with the support of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation with our company FGWRS to test new membranes and work on the treatment and recycling of black and yellow water.
